maebel heyd: newborn.

I first met Carrie a few years ago on hikes and expeditions in Colorado with my sister in law Leighann. Carrie is fun, vibrant, and a fellow teacher and photography lover, so it's clear that we hit it off quickly.

Fast forward to now, and Carrie is the proud wife of Will and mom to newborn Maebel, and it was more than my pleasure to spend some time at their beautiful home a couple of weeks ago to document the newest addition to their family. Maebel is such a sweet little girl, and of course, I loved photographing her with her big brother Moose, who just happens to have an uncanny resemblance to my pup Winston.

Carrie and Will, you are already doing a wonderful job with Miss Maebel. She is so very lucky to be a Heyd, and I can't wait to watch as she continues to grow.

What an adventure.

the heywoods: newborn.

Introducing baby Grant! A few weeks ago I got the chance to meet this little guy and his parents, Ellen and Ron at their beautiful home in City Park.

Although he normally sleeps his days away, the Sunday afternoon I was there, Grant was much more keen on staying awake and not missing out on a single thing. Ellen, Ron, and I worked so hard to get him to fall asleep and finally succeeded toward the very end of the session.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this sweet family. There's something so special about first time parents, brand new nurseries, and sweeter than sweet newborns. The newness, joy, and sleep deprivation makes it that much more special.

Thank you Ron and for welcoming me into your home. I loved getting to know you both while we tried to get Grant to sleep, and I hope you love these photos as much as I do. His big brother's appearances are some of my favorites.

the keltys: family.

Leslie and her family just welcomed their third daughter (I love a family of sisters) a little over a month ago, and they invited me over to their home to document this special time in their lives.

Unfortunately, two year olds don't always understand how to pose and model for family photos, and little miss Caroline wasn't exactly feeling like getting her photo taken that day, but we all just rolled with it. Ann, the oldest of the girls, took the chance to be my personal model and always made sure to smile and look at the camera at every opportunity. Matt and Leslie were so kind and easy going, and I'm happy to report we were able to capture images that they loved.

Thank you Keltys for inviting me into your home on a cloudy Saturday afternoon and reminding me that even when two years olds don't want their picture taken, a loving family is always a beautiful thing to behold.

colorado teen therapy: business.

I live and breathe middle school. Some days it's hilarious. Some days it's maddening. Some days it's confusing. But believe me, it's never, ever boring.

With all the feelings and emotion running rampant down the halls of our middle school, I am so thankful for amazing counselors who support our students in ways that I never could. Enter Cheryl Somers, school counselor extraordinaire. I've had the privilege of working with Cheryl for the past few years, and she is amazing. She is so amazing that not only does she work with the students at our school, but she also started her own practice (Colorado Teen Therapy) to continue to work with teens outside of school hours.

She was interested in having some new photos taken for her website, so she organized a wonderful group of teens to meet me downtown for a fun afternoon photo shoot. They were so fun to work with and pulled out their inner models instantly. I think their personalities shine through in these fun, colorful photos.

If you live in Denver, have a teen or are a teen yourself, take my advice and contact Cheryl immediately. She knows what she's doing, and you will not be disappointed.
