the nichols: family.

I first met the Nichols family last year while taking photos of some ridiculously cute babies on Halloween. Jazlyn and her baby friends stole the show for sure with their adorable costumes and baby style interactions.

When Nicole contacted me to take some family photo a little while ago, I realized that not only was she a professional photographer herself (you can see her gorgeous work here), but that she had photographed one of my friend's weddings. Such a small world.

We spent the evening together in Civic Center Park and the Denver Art Museum last week letting little Jazlyn lead the way. I loved the calm and laid back way that Nicole and Steve interacted with little miss Jazlyn. Since one year olds haven't learned the fine art of posed photos, they were very gracious and let her have fun. Just the way it should be.

Thank you Nichols family for trusting me to take photos for your family. I hope you treasure these images for years to come.

seeka the dog: family.

I got to photograph a dog, and it was the very best. If you know me at all, you know my love for dogs runs deep, and I couldn't have picked a better dog model than Miss Seeka.

Seeka is an 8 year old puppy with the energy to match. She ran around Sloan's Lake, got to eat a lot of treats, and didn't mind too much that I kept sticking my camera in her face.

To have a dog is to have an essential member of the family, so it only makes sense to document them in all their glory.

Thank you Seeka for being my first official dog model. I hope you're the first of many.

the grays: maternity.

I have to start off by saying, I have never laughed as hard while taking photos as I did during this maternity session with Colin and Tory. These two are just awesome. And hilarious. And have some pretty great poses up their sleeves.

We spent the afternoon together at the Denver Botanic Gardens, which is just such a beautiful backdrop, and chatted and laughed a lot as we explored the gardens on such a perfect fall day.

Although the highlight definitely came at the end, when I gave Colin full reign over the poses. You can see some of his work at the end of the photos, including the levitating grumpy cat, which is my personal favorite.

Thank you Colin and Tory for choosing me to document such a special time in your lives. Baby Gray is so lucky to have both of you as parents, and I know that he or she will never lack in the love or laughter department.

the groettums: family.

The Groettums are another family I've been privileged to photograph now two years running.

I think the term "running" is more than appropriate here considering how busy and active their little guy Calvin is. He is always on the move, which makes downtown photographs a little interesting, but everyone left in one piece and we finished the session on the playground so Calvin could run and play freely. I'd call that a success.

I love the sweetness that's so evident in these photos. Lindsey and Andy love each other and Calvin so deeply, and I think it shows.

Thank you Groettums for allowing me to be a small part of capturing your family's story. One day I'll be able to keep up with Calvin. Fingers crossed.
