Newborn

maebel heyd: newborn.

I first met Carrie a few years ago on hikes and expeditions in Colorado with my sister in law Leighann. Carrie is fun, vibrant, and a fellow teacher and photography lover, so it's clear that we hit it off quickly.

Fast forward to now, and Carrie is the proud wife of Will and mom to newborn Maebel, and it was more than my pleasure to spend some time at their beautiful home a couple of weeks ago to document the newest addition to their family. Maebel is such a sweet little girl, and of course, I loved photographing her with her big brother Moose, who just happens to have an uncanny resemblance to my pup Winston.

Carrie and Will, you are already doing a wonderful job with Miss Maebel. She is so very lucky to be a Heyd, and I can't wait to watch as she continues to grow.

What an adventure.

Introducing baby Grant! A few weeks ago I got the chance to meet this little guy and his parents, Ellen and Ron at their beautiful home in City Park.

Although he normally sleeps his days away, the Sunday afternoon I was there, Grant was much more keen on staying awake and not missing out on a single thing. Ellen, Ron, and I worked so hard to get him to fall asleep and finally succeeded toward the very end of the session.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this sweet family. There's something so special about first time parents, brand new nurseries, and sweeter than sweet newborns. The newness, joy, and sleep deprivation makes it that much more special.

Thank you Ron and for welcoming me into your home. I loved getting to know you both while we tried to get Grant to sleep, and I hope you love these photos as much as I do. His big brother's appearances are some of my favorites.

I was so happy to hear from Callie when she emailed me a few months back to ask about taking newborn photos. Last year, I got to take her and Dean’s engagement photos, and I love to be welcomed back into people’s lives when such big milestones happen.

I got to meet baby Alex at their home a couple of weeks ago, and although he wasn't too keen on sleeping, he was totally content to just hang out and watch everything going on around him.

Of course, the photos wouldn't have been complete without Xena, the family dog, who tried her best to get into as many photos as possible (the one with the Alex and Xena on the bed is one of my personal favs). Dogs and babies will forever be a winning combination.

Thank you Vardals for welcoming me into your home! I loved meeting little Alex, and I know you two are going to be the very best parents. Xena is already singing your praises.

First of all, when I walked into little Liam's nursery, I just about died. The watercolor animal prints, the elephant mobile, and the huge stuffed giraffe (his name is Jerry, by the way) were enough to throw me straight over the edge. It was just too much.

The only thing sweeter than the nursery was Liam himself and his wonderful parents, Katie and Andrew. For first time parents, they seemed to be doing extremely well for themselves. Liam was happy and healthy and although he wasn't in the mood for sleeping, he cooperated well with all my silly demands. I think modeling might be in his future.

Thank you baby Liam, Andrew, and Katie for welcoming me into your (amazingly clean for just having a newborn) home. Liam is so lucky to have such wonderful parents. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
