Family

the westbrooks: family

i first met the westbrook family last year when i took their family photos downtown at the oxford hotel. this year the weather decided to play nice, so we spent the afternoon at cherry creek state park. it's fun to get to photograph a family more than once and see how they change. this year is especially exciting as heidi is expecting a new baby in a few months!

our time together was split between chasing little guy graham around and reminding the older ones not to put goose poop on each other:) there is never a dull moment when teenagers are involved!

we finished our session with a beautiful sunset and the firefighters who were doing some training by the water honked at us as they drove away. everyone loved it, but especially graham.

enjoy some of my favorites from our time together.

the wetterlings: family.

trish was one of the very first people i met in denver. she was friends with my sister, and i still remember having lunch with her one day at a noodles and company while she was pregnant with her first son jake. well, now jake is in kindergarten, she has another little guy finn, and her family should probably be featured in a magazine.

so there's that.

i am so happy i had the chance to photograph their beautiful family. trish and trevor are wonderful parents, we laughed practically the whole time, and jake even showed me his signature model pose. it was basically a photographer's dream.

thanks to crema coffee for letting us use their back space and larimer street for never failing to be exactly what i'm looking for.

enjoy some of my favorites (although it was hard to pick!)

the bishops: family.

i met libby and her husband jim when i started my first teaching job in denver almost six years ago. the bishops were one of the very first families to trust me enough to take their family photos, and i am honored that they came back for round two this year.

it's so fun to photograph families over time and watch their little ones grow up. last time i photographed henry, he was a wobbly one year old, holding onto park benches to keep his balance. but this time around, i could barely keep up with him.

we spent the morning at the newly renovated union station since the weather outside was a bit frightful and had the best time exploring and chasing after henry. the bishops are such a sweet, easy going family and i always have such a great time with them.

the groettums: family.

i first met lindsey and andy almost six years ago when i started my first teaching job in denver. lindsey and i were both wide eyed and terrified first year teachers at the same school, and since andy was a seasoned pro at that point (he also taught in the same district but at another school), he gave us some pointers and helped calm our nerves. i'll always remember sitting on their porch with lindsey at the beginning of the school year, trying desperately to make lesson plans and reassure each other that everything was going to be just fine.

now lindsey and andy have experienced their fair share of joys and sorrows over these past six years, with the biggest joy of all being their son calvin. he is a busy and energetic almost 2 year old with beautiful blue eyes and an adorable smile. up until a couple of weeks ago, he had to have oxygen all day, every day (you can read more about their story here), and only a few days before our photo shoot the doctors told them he would only have to use the oxygen at night. this was beyond amazing news for their family, and i am honored to have photographed calvin oxygen free, even if it meant running around city park with my camera trying to catch up with him.

i loved spending the afternoon catching up with the groettums and photographing their beautiful family, and i can't wait to see all the great things their future has in store.
